About Cork Kendo Club

Kendo in Cork has been established since the early 1990's. Kendo was officially recognised in Ireland in 1997. There have been many kendo clubs around the county from UCC, Blarney street and Midleton to our current location at The Lough Community Centre, Pouladuff Rd, Cork. At Cork Kendo Club we welcome people of all ages and fitness levels. Kendo is an activity that takes years to master but it is never too late to begin. Kendo as a martial art is a great means of exercies giving a full cardio work out given that Kendo is the top Sport for using the most muscles simultaneously beating swimming and running!! The main concept of Kendo is harmony; striking with your spirit, body and sword at the exact same time (ki-ken-tai no ichi). This takes a lot of practice and patience. At Cork Kendo Club have a diverse range of students from all walks of life. From photographers to chefs, solicitors to craftsmen and students to IT professionals; all have found many benefits from studying Kendo. Kendo can help you improve your physcial condition and general health, but it also improves you concentration and self confidence.
