Noel Sweeney writes that 750,000 overseas visitors arrived in Ireland last month, pushing up the increase over the first 7 months of 2013 to 6% ahead of the same period last year. Good news all round with year to-date arrivals from all major source markets in positive territory – with growth in arrivals from Britain for the first time in many months. North America continues to produce significant growth rates with a 31% increase in July and running 19% so far this year. While arrivals so far this year from mainland Europe are up 6%, July was soft with a marginal decrease compared to a year ago. Arrivals from further afield were also buoyant in July (+11%) and running at +6% year to date.
