About Harding Fireplaces

Harding Fireplaces and Marble Works is located in the historic village of Gowran in the county of Kilkenny just seven miles from Kilkenny City and 12 miles from Carlow town. Gowran is situated in the valley of the River Barrow in the South East of Ireland. The area has a long history of working the local blue limestone and famous Kilkenny black marble. The "Marble Works", as it is known locally, was founded in 1963 and production of fireplaces began in 1974, with the express purpose of producing top quality Georgian / Victorian etc. reproductions for both the retail and wholesale trade. This policy continues to this day.

Only top quality materials are used and are imported from many parts of the world. White marble (Bianco Carrara) comes from Italy and "Sivec" from Macedonia. Cream marbles are imported from Portugal with other colours coming from countries such as Spain, Greece, Belgium, Brazil and India. We also work with Kilkenny black marble from our own quarry. The manufacture process is still very much in common with old skills and methods.
