About Dogs in Distress
What We Do
Our first intervention in a dog's life happens in the pound.
Dogs in Distress work mainly to help the dogs from Ashton Pound. The areas covered by Ashton dog pound are Dublin City Council, Fingal County Council and Dun laoghaire Rathdown.
Three to four times per week volunteers from Dogs in Distress visit Ashton pound to take photos and records of all the dogs coming into the pounds care. Taking note of the each dogs temperament as well as their age and condition. This significantly helps not only to re-home dogs but also to reunite some of the dogs with their owners.
We depend on Foster families for short term care of rescued dogs while waiting for re-homing or to be moved to an offered rescue space.
